Scavenger Hunt: How well do you know La Plata?

After our week-long orientation, FSD sent us out on a scavenger hunt to meet the locals/explore key places in La Plata. Among our tasks were the following:

• Buy a cone from Thionis--arguably producing the best ice-cream in La Plata

• Take a picture from the tower of the Cathedral

• Q. How do you know a car is for sale (aside from the sign in the window)? A. There’s a bottle on top!
• Drink mate with Platenses in a plaza (yeah, as in find random locals and ask them to share their tea).

A few others they might want to add…

• Find a garbage can.They’re raised off the ground to keep the roving population of dogs from making a mess in the streets.

• Find the house that was destroyed when over 200 military troops decided to make an example out of a young couple who were housing an anti-military-rule printing press in the 70’s. Casa Anahí.
• Where’s the school of dentistry? Many of the facultades are painted colorfully, depicting the subjects taught within.
